poster idea

We been given a theme of underwater life and had to make a poster by the end ofe the month. We used spider diagram to help us develop ides but that didnt worked well for me even tho I had lots of ideas but all of them seemed cliche to me.
I was reading an article about oil and that easy reachable oil is runing out and that  after easy reachable oil rans out we will be left with hard reachable oil wich is realy deep in ocean that even submarines cant go that deep.So i figured to try and make an image wich would show how i think futuristic oil platforms will look.when i started my work my idea kept developing.
In the end iam not that happy with how my glass dome looks but iam not disapointed in it even tho i wanted it to look more realistic. but iam quite happy with how statues of liberty arm looks.

Poster

First i selected picture of sea bed
Then i made glass dome by using elliptical tool and made surface of inside of glass dome and also croped top of the image
After that i cuted out oil rig picture inserted it to inside of glass dome and puted in whale skeleton in image
by using brush tool i tryed making glass of dome more realistic by making it less see thru at certain areas also painted light reflection on glass dome and with brush tool i painted and made it look like glass dome is standing on platform
then i cuted out statue's of liberty arm wich holds the torch by using pen tool and found some pictures of cracks on dry ground and iported them on top of arm image then reduced opacity of cracked ground and deleted parts of cracked ground image wich were not needed and after that imported final image of arm in main image and by using masks i made arm fade in.

Hippo+lizard

At first i opened bouth images of hippo and lizard in and moved them in the same window. Then used edit > transform to transform and rotate hippo head on lizard head.
Then used color balance to make hippo skin color to match lizard skin color.
After that changed brightnes/contrast of area around hippo head. And deleted color balance and brightnes/contrast changes in hippo's mouth using masks to make hippos mouth look more natural and not green.

Pixels and vectoring

Pixels DPI-dots per inch
Computer screen output is 72 dpi printing output is 300 dpi, if dpi too low printed result will look poor quality. The more dpi image has the more memory it requares. In 72 dpi image while looking at original image it looks like realy sharp circle but when u zoom in u can clearly see that image is pixelated.

Vectoring
Vectoring is diferent from pixels. It uses computer calculations and diferent from pixels doesnt requare every pixel to be remembered so this results in using up less memory. Also when you zoom in to vector figure computer knows what shape that figure is and doesnt get it pixelated.

Artist research

Zach Bush is a freelance illustrator. His interest in graphic design
started quite late at summer of his junior year in college when he was asked to make web tamplets for his friend company's website.
He does digital painting, photo manipulation and its been said that he also does typography but i didn't managed to find any of his typography works. here are my favorites examples of his photo manipulation and digital painting. In image called "a Soul's Silhouette" i liked that woman in image looks unrealistic and reminds me of mannaquin i also like that it looks like she originally was just a painting on the wall but she is trying to come out of wall to 3d space and she is breaking in the process. In image called "The mad had hatter" i like how colors in image gets along with character and I also like the outline of the character and how differently mad hatter is shown here from the one in the movies or cartoons.

A Soul's Silhouette                                                              The Mad Hatter

Next is digital artist Kyle Lambert.
An illustrator from the UK who produces digital ilustration , photorealistic painting and 3D animation. Currently work freelance for a variety of clients.
He refers to his photorealistic painting as a technical exercises to draw accurately and to improve my understanding of color and lighting
This is my favorite painting of Kyle Lambert. Joker from movie "Dark Knight". It is my favorite basically because movie dark knight was really good and i liked how artist managed to convey jokers character into the painting even though i would have preferred background not being blury or at least less blury.

Another artist i want to talk about is a little bit diferent from the ones above his name is Freddie Wong. He is a film maker and a musician. Every time i wach at some of his work i get entertained and inspired becouse he have good ideas, talent and most importantly good sence of humor. He usualy makes short films wich goes from 2 to 10 minutes. He mainly uses adobe photoshop, adobe afterefects and Final Cut Pro. Heres a few examples of his work: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_DypnQQDAaU&feature=player_embedded  i liked this video becouse of idea, humour and it shows how amazing green screen is. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rzQMGMuD1sU&feature=channel what i like about this one is how realisticly he can do special efects. Personaly I think these special efects been done better than in some of the movies.

The final artist i want to talk about is artist who calls himself pantural. He is film director and has amazing skills in 3ds Max and he also uses programs like photo shop, after effects, vegas. He probably was one of the first people who increased my interest in digital design. This is an example on what he is capable of  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qHD8Xf5Rnvo&feature=channel this also was his first work that i saw and it took me a little while to figure out that 3d models are not real. and its all been done by one person.

investigation/experimentation

Tools used: brush tool, smudge tool.
Brush tool colours were selected using web safe colours, brush tool was used with zero hardness and also diferent brush sizes.
Smudge tool was used with zero hardness and 85% strength. Touch screen was used for smudge tool.
   Tools used: brush tool.
Brush tool was used to make orb bubbles by creating a custom brush with scattering efect and outer glow.
In this final image i used quick mask to make green and blue orb light reflections. To do that i selected quick mask mode and with soft brush selected areas where i thought orb light would be reflected, after that i deselected quick mask mode and while holding ALT selected levels and balanced colors so it would look like orb's light reflected on woman's skin.
